Our advanced stall and spin course consists of 3 flights and an extensive ground review of aerodynamics with a focus on stall/spin aerodynamics and what situations lead to inadvertent stalls and spins.

Day 1 will consist of a ground lesson following a detailed syllabus. You will be assigned "homework" (don't worry, we don't grade with a red pen) to help accelerate the instruction. Flight 1 is an easy familiarity flight in the Decathlon with a review of stalls you're familiar with and an introduction to stalls you may have never seen before, including a spin.

Day 2 consists of two flights with a break in-between to allow for additional ground and allow for a much needed rest. Flight 2 consists of several spins and recoveries, while the final flight explores alternate recovery methods and incorrect recovery methods. Basic aerobatics will probably be included somewhere just because we can.

For those wishing to receive a CFI spin endorsement, this program far exceeds the FAA training requirement. In order to receive a CFI spin endorsement the student must demonstrate instructional proficiency in stalls and spins, which most people are easily able to do by the end of the third lesson. A prerequisite for the CFI spin endorsement is passing the CFI-A and FOI written tests.
